Barris joins St. George’s Cathedral Choir for Remembrance

JULIAN(HIRES)_TED'SVIMY@BEACHVILLE_08_EEAs Canadians continue to acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the liberation of Europe in the Second World War, St. George’s Cathedral has a unique Remembrance event for residents in the Kingston area. On Sunday, Nov. 9, the Cathedral choir has invited Ted Barris to offer readings from some of his books on wartime Canada as a compliment to the choir’s music of Remembrance.

Ted Barris is an author, journalist and broadcaster. As well as hosting appearances on CBC Radio and regular contributions to the National Post and LegionAir Force and Zoomer magazine, he is a full-time professor of journalism and broadcasting at Centennial College in Toronto. He has authored 17 published, non-fiction books.

In 2011 he received the Canadian Minister of Veterans’ Affairs Commendation and in 2012 the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. On June 2, 2014, The Great Escape: A Canadian Story received the 2014 Libris Best Non-Fiction Book Award.
